Scary new Internet censorship law for SA

More ANC brain farts. They really are striving to become the next North Korea. I take it that the intellectual levels of our leadership are the same as the average North korean like in even Kim Jong-un, they share many common attrubutes.
 
They're getting scared. You'll see the more support they lose, the more drastic **** they are going to start pushing

Certain parts of the forum will have to be removed.

Users will be prevented from uploading and sharing content prior to MyBB getting approval for such content to be published and paying the required application fees.

MyBB will need to ensure that posts are moderated to a T. They will definitely come cracking down on MyBB when posts are made against government or negative remarks are made.

This is just a few of the many changes I still see for MyBB if this act comes into play.

I heard from an employee at News24 that they received a lot of pressure from government in terms of user comments, which eventually lead to the shut down. This is what will come to all platforms.

- there is no new law in SA around regulating content on the network
- the same law applies now as did in 1996
- there is no way this will be in place in April next year (and probably not the next year either)
- brushing up on your VPN skills is always a good idea

I will gladly sign, but the anc sees them as spies working for other governments. This petition will mean nothing at the end of the day. These useless twats will only use their majority in parliament to get this bill approved.
 
Just move the mybb servers overseas.

How are these dimwits going to enforce a banana republic law such as this in the global context?
Am I missing something?

I have a friend who works at the CSIR in Pretoria. I do not know how many of you know this, but this is a private organization but they have a huge team of hackers they employ. They offer their services to the SAPS and State Security and, when receiving a court order, they will hack and gather information for investigation purposes. They also assist in monitoring of email communication of the general public.

I do not know how true this is, but SAFACT, ISP's and a few other roleplayers are busy discussing methods to use these people to start intercepting and monitoring of Internet activities, especially downloads of copyrighted material. Not sure how they will work or on what scale they will operate. But, I am almost 100% sure this will be the group that will ensure the new act will be enforced too.

I am concerned with the number of 'investigations' and 'spying' the government outsources to private organizations.

If they move out of the country along with their servers, it is fine. But, if they operate the site from here, they can be charged.

CSIR is a state entity, not private. They are playing a lead role in the development of South Africa's cybersecurity response and the setting up of various structures

The Office for Interception Centres http://www.oic.gov.za/ can and does have the right to intercept and monitor communications already and has done so for many years. For domestic communications this generally requires a court order. As you can see from their website they are right on the cutting edge of technology....

as far as ISPs in general are concerned this is not true, cannot speak for the rest but very much doubt this
