MTN South Africa appoints chief prepaid commercial officer

MTN South Africa has appointed Muyiwa Ladipo as chief commercial officer for prepaid, effective 15 September 2025.
The MTN South Africa chief commercial officer for prepaid appears to be a newly created position.
Ladipo previously served as chief marketing officer at MTN Irancell, and he will join MTN South Africa after completing his stint at EE Mobile UK, where he currently serves as pricing and portfolio manager.
In his role at EE Mobile UK, part of the BT Group, Ladipo oversees commercial strategy across pay-as-you-go, roaming and IDD, and SIM-free segments.
According to MTN South Africa, Ladipo holds over two decades of commercial leadership experience in the telecommunications sector, spanning MTN operations and other global players.
“Muyiwa brings deep strategic insight, operational expertise, and a proven track record in transforming consumer businesses,” said MTN South Africa.
“In a previous role as CMO at MTN Irancell, he spearheaded five consecutive years of double-digit revenue growth and led the successful commercialisation of 4G.”
He held key leadership positions at MTN Irancell and was instrumental in driving airtime penetration, digital recharge solutions, and embedding an insight-led approach to customer value management.
“Muyiwa’s return to the MTN family marks an exciting new chapter for our prepaid business, which remains a core focus area for MTN South Africa,” said MTN South Africa CEO Charles Molapisi.
“Muyiwa brings both, along with a wealth of global experience and a proven track record in driving customer-centric growth.”
Molapisi added that Ladipo’s leadership will be critical to delivering MTN South Africa’s value proposition, driving innovation, and strengthening its market position.
“We are thrilled to welcome him back as we focus on the next phase of our prepaid growth journey,” the MTN South Africa CEO added.
Ladipo’s expertise spans data-driven planning, pricing, customer insight, and go-to-market strategy, which he has honed through prior roles at CEVA Logistics and engagements with Huawei and Smile Telecoms.
“I am excited to rejoin the MTN family and contribute to a brand that continues to shape the future of connectivity in South Africa and across the continent,” said Ladipo.
“Together, we will continue to drive innovation and growth in the prepaid space.”
Ladipo holds an MSc in Business Consulting and Digital Transformation from the Skema Business School in France, and an MBA and BSc in Electrical Engineering from the University of Lagos, Nigeria.
He is also a certified Project Management Professional and has completed a professional certificate in strategy from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
“MTN wishes Muyiwa every success in his new role and looks forward to the impact he will make in continuing to deliver world-class experiences to South African prepaid customers,” said MTN South Africa.
